Do I Need a Tabloid Copier?

One of the biggest determinates of price in copiers is whether or not it has tabloid copying capabilities. While a very slim minority of companies actually needs tabloid printing, it is becoming more and more common to see tabloid printing in an office. With this being said, it becomes important to ask, do I need a tabloid copier?

Tabloid sized copies are 11” x 17” as opposed to the more standard legal sized at 8.5” x 14”. Leasing companies love to lease out tabloid copiers because they cost far more, but most people never use them. They try to convince you that it’s worth the money because there is the possibility of needing it in the future. This can be a fatal financial error.

The only people that truly need tabloid sized copies are usually media or advertising companies. The vast majority of printing is done in legal size, and unless you are an extremely visually focused and design oriented company, you will likely never use the tabloid copying size.

At Copier Houston we have looked at the numbers and the price difference is extreme. The cost effective 8.5” x 14” sized copiers usually run in the $1500-$2000 range. Tabloid copiers can start at around $4000 and go as high as over $8,000! Is paying almost twice as much worth the slim possibility of actually needing the tabloid size?

This is one of the most common sales tactics to make you pay more than you should. At Copier Houston we want to get you the copier that fits you, not what lines our pockets.
